More than an online dating site, Ferzu is a specialized social network for singles who enjoy a cartoon-like venue populated by animal personas called furries. It’s part of Grokio LLC’s network of niche sites catering to various online dating communities with specific interests.
On this platform, furries are on the hunt for other furries to get to know the one that could be their match in real life. Ferzu is a combination of the “zoo” and “fur,” a portmanteau of sorts. It was created to connect these anamorph-loving and artistic souls and form bonds that could lead to romance in the real world.
Its main goal is to build a strong furry loving community, help these furries meet others with compatible “fursonas” who are nearby, and let them go out on real dates. It may sound strange for some people, but it’s legit to thousands of people who’ve signed up for it. It turns out that many people in the world are looking to find someone who shares their “furry” personalities.
Ferzu has only been around for a few years, and if you want to find out more about this animal-themed dating site, read our review below.
As a non-paying standard member, all of the site’s services and features will be available to you, but they will have severe restrictions. To take full advantage of these tools, you will have to upgrade to a Ferzu+ membership, which is the equivalent of a premium account.
You can find suitable partners using a basic search or go to the Search page and fine-tune filters to meet your criteria. After discovering candidates worthy of your affection, you can visit their page to learn more about them.
If you like a person, you can send messages or flirts, put them in your Favorites list, and comment on their actions. To take a friendship to a deeper level, you will need the unrestricted Ferzu+ membership privileges. You can send messages and chat to your heart’s content and work your way to a genuine romance.
Ferzu also sanctions events where members can meet their online furry friends face to face. The most active members in organizing eyeballing opportunities are from various cities in the US and Europe. For example, there’s an annual convention in Europe for furries called Euroference.
It’s quite easy to register an account with Ferzu, but one needs a valid email address where you can confirm the registration and send a password.
Firstly, think of a catchy and “furry-friendly” username. To give you an idea, you’ll see names like “TipsyTiger,” “Grey_Wolfe,” “HugFox,” etc. Next is the working email previously mentioned. Before entering your age, keep in mind that Ferzu will not allow those below 18 to join.
After that, choose your “Gender” from the dropdown list, which could be female, male, transgender, feminine, masculine, androgynous, agender, non-binary, or other. You then pick your sexual preference on the “Interested in” field with the same choices as on the “Gender” field. On the “Verify that you’re not a machine” section, don’t forget to check on the CAPTCHA.
It’s a good idea to read the Membership Agreement beforehand in the link provided. After ticking the “I accept the Membership Agreement” checkbox, left-click on the orange “Join Us” button at the bottom. Lastly, go to your email and check for the password assigned to you. If you can’t see it on your inbox, it may be on your spam messages list.
Use the password Ferzu gave you with your username to log in, and it will take you directly to your account profile.
Ferzu’s overall design is quite pleasant with an off-white background and teal or turquoise touches here and there, particularly on the top banner. Clicking on the Ferzu logo on the top left will bring you to the homepage.
On the top right, there’s a menu bar with selections for Home, Search, Messages, Notifications, member page (with your username), and My Account (with a gear icon). Over the menu bar, there are some helpful links like Blog, Rules, Feedback, Support, Languages, and a link for “Signing Out.”
Selecting Home also takes you to the homepage. You’ll see a site map on the left categorized into Community, People, Photos, and Events. “Community” is for the three types of newsfeeds that includes the “Global Newsfeed,” “Local Newsfeed,” and “My Newsfeed.”
Under “People,” users can find out who’s online, nearby members, birthday celebrants, followers, and more. “Photos” will let users access images of “Everyone,” the latest on “My Network” and “Private,” and their favorite photos. “Event” has links for various Ferzu member gatherings around the world.
Taking up most of the homepage is the Global Newsfeed. It’s where the staff and the entire membership base can post messages that others can comment on.
Selecting “Messages” on the top menu will bring you to the “Messages and Instant Conversations” page. Here, there are tabs for a user’s Inbox, Unread, and Deleted messages. Next on the menu bar is “Notifications,” which will tell you about words from the staff, who started following you, who has made a comment and other stuff like that.
Selecting your username on the menu bar will direct you to your profile, in case you want to make edits. Finally, there’s the gear icon for your “My Account” page. There you can customize your settings and upgrade to one of the Ferzu+ plans.
The design of the site’s layout is simple and well organized. Everything is intuitive, so that nobody will get lost navigating the different pages.
Most of the profile pics that come up on the searches are cartoonish animal art. Below the profile pic are thumbnails for their public images and their private ones. We’re calling them images because they’re mostly art. Occasionally, you’ll see pictures of the people behind the accounts.
Some are genuinely committed to the persona they created on the site. It gives the venue a kind of youthful vibe. Despite that, you’ll see a member’s age next to his profile image, and it’s over 18. You’ll also see how far they are from your location in miles.
The number of followers they have and how many they are following are also indicated. You’ll even know when they last logged in, how long they’ve been a member, and if they have ever visited your page. Most of the page is taken up by the activity of the member and others commenting on it. They can post a message or a picture, and others can reply to it.
There are links on the left panel to “Send a message” and “Send a Flirt.” There are options to “Report this member” for any violation and to “Block this member” to stop future interactions between you both.
There’s also a button to send a message on the top right under the main menu bar. Next on the right is another labeled “Follow” if you want to be one of this person’s followers.
As mentioned earlier, selecting your username will take you to your profile. There, you’ll see similar things as with other profiles. There are three tabs to show your “Basic Profile,” “Extended Profile,” and “Preferences.”
The only differences are the links and buttons to edit your profile. Selecting “Edit my profile” will bring you back to the profile creation page where you were first taken when you joined the site. Here, there are several fields to fill out to make your page more noticeable and attractive. After you have completed the page, you can left-click on “Save profile.”
With their apps for Android and iOS, you can keep in touch with your furry friends while you’re on the road or somewhere else. It’s available for download on the App Store and Google Play under the Grokio Communities app.
Aside from Ferzu, also included are the apps for PupSpace, Feabie, Grommr, and Chasable sites belonging to Grokio LCC. Be sure to install the latest update for a hassle-free experience because they’re continuously improving it. The design is sleek and optimized for use on a smaller screen.
It’s more convenient to use than the desktop version because you can take it with you, receive push notifications, and reply from anywhere you are.
Ferzu is a self-contained community. Members can be sure that their data, such as profile information, photos, posts, etc., won’t be accessible from Google or other popular search engines. Likewise, unverified users can’t access member data.
Ferzu will never share or sell personal details such as birthdays, email addresses, and member locations. Besides that, the site has security protocols and measures to protect its network from any illegal intrusion or harmful programs.
Members also can block anyone who they don’t want to open their page or view their content. If members wish to leave the site, they can delete their account, and that will permanently wipe out their user profile.
A Premium account is called Ferzu+. Both the free regular and Ferzu+ membership can explore the site, mingle with other members, and share their content. Those features, however, will have considerable limitations for free users.
For instance, free members can only view up to 25 images, upload up to 200 photos, browse up to 30 profiles, and send five like notifications daily. They can only post up to 10 flirts and messages on another member’s wall, although there’s no limit to how much replies or likes they receive from others.
There’s also a limit of seeing the last 15 users who viewed their profile, and they can only block up to 100 of them. Moreover, you’re allowed a single search on Global Newsfeed and view up to 20 pages on the Enhanced Newsfeeds per day. Ads would also appear on the pages.
All those with a Ferzu+ pass will enjoy all features without any restrictions imposed on them.
The one and three-month plans are automatically renewed once they expire. Ferzu will bill you for the next cycle unless you left-click on the “Cancel a recurring subscription” to stop the auto-renewal process. Those who get the 1-year plan pay a one-time nonrecurring fee equivalent to only $4.99/month for twelve months.
As soon as your plan expires, you will revert to the free but limited access. However, nothing on your account will be deleted. For example, with the subscription still active, you may have received hundreds of messages, but after it expires, you’ll only see the most recent 50 messages.
Canceling during a subscription will not remove the remaining days you have left, but you can’t get a refund. You can also buy another plan before the expiration of your current one. Ferzu will combine the new subscription with the remaining days of the previous purchase.
On top of that, Ferzu will reward you with additional days if you refer others to the site, and they sign up. Ferzu uses CCBill to handle billings, and they accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and JCP.
If a user clicks on support near the top right corner of a page, he or she will be redirected to another site that handles all the customer support under the umbrella of Grokio Communities. Members from Ferzu, Feabie, Grommr, and other sites can get help.
They organized help into six links with different categories. “Policy violation report” is where you can report a user who’s violating the site’s terms of use and community policies. It’s a useful mechanism for getting rid of fake and fraudulent accounts.
“Technical support” is for those experiencing any problems with using the website. If users have questions about payments, they can select “Billing questions.” “Bug Report” is for notifying the admins of any bugs encountered on the site.
There’s also a “Suggestions” link to improve the service or add features. Finally, there’s the “Events” link in case members need assistance in organizing an event in their area.
Ferzu’s data protection is reliable with measures to protect it from hacking and malware. Members can be sure Ferzu won’t sell personal details like their email, credit info, and location to others.
The animal avatar theme that Ferzu’s got going may not be for everyone’s tastes, but it is a legitimate site for singles to meet and, hopefully, get a date. It has searches to help narrow down your choices to a select few, but you’ll need a paid account if you want to develop an online relationship with someone.
In Ferzu, you put your best paw or flipper forward by creating a detailed description of yourself in your profile. That way, there’s a better chance of other furries to notice you. You will need a Ferzu+ account to get more personal with other paying members and start forming bonds that could lead to dating.
Anyone above 18 can register with Ferzu for free and have limited access to all of its features. For the site to help you find a date or relationship, you will need to buy a Ferzu+ pass that allows users unlimited access to those features.
The best way to take advantage of Ferzu and make its service work for you is to buy a Ferzu+ pass. That’s the only way you can mingle with people you like to date them in real life.
It’s highly doubtful that the only reason people sign up with Ferzu is to look at cutesy and cartoonish animal images all day. That’s what they’ll end up doing if they don’t buy a Ferzu+ pass because, without it, their chances of finding a real-life partner on that site will be slim to none.
It’s a good and reliable site for those who want to find new friends and love among people who share the same interest. On Ferzu user can be sure that no one will shame them for being a furry. The number of users is not very big, but they are all friendly and attentive. The site’s administration takes care of the members’ safety and security of the data. So, we can strongly recommend Ferzu for all fellow fursonas!
